About Dr. Jay
Hi! I’m a trans, disabled writer and psychologist. I believe in an anti-carceral, liberatory approach to therapy and love working with neurodivergent, queer & trans youth and adults. My approach tends to be somatic and trauma-informed, meaning that I believe that tending to the body is just as important as checking in on the mind. I’m also a big believer in helping clients identify existing strengths, resources and community support. I don’t believe that we are just a collection of symptoms to be fixed: I think it’s important to understand that our mental heath is always being shaped by the oppressive systems we live inside. In all of my work, through therapy, assessments and writing, I hope to provide a safe where folks can develop new self-understandings, cope with challenging circumstances and find healing in liberatory practices.
When I’m not in the office, you can find me on Tongva lands (currently known as Los Angeles) where I beep boop around with my sweet partner and our two cats, Luna and Hazel.
